Days of cover.Make the assumption visible.

A simple, independent calculator for an operational stock-coverage estimate. It helps explain a concept; it is not a financial inventory metric or Hovera’s internal forecasting algorithm.

Educational tool

Calculate a simple stock-coverage estimate.

Use units, cases or another single operational unit. This calculates usable stock ÷ average expected daily demand; it does not calculate financial inventory metrics or replicate Hovera’s forecasting algorithm.

8.0 days of coverFor operational planning, also consider confirmed arrivals, lead time and changing demand. This simplified result does not treat an incoming delivery as available until it arrives.

How this calculator works

It divides usable stock on hand by average expected daily demand. The calculation needs both values in the same unit. Zero demand does not produce an infinite “safe” answer because it may reflect a missing or unsuitable demand input.

Use the result carefully

Days of cover is one signal. A practical decision also depends on expected arrivals, whether they arrive in time, lead times, expiry, quarantined stock and changes in demand. Use an appropriate historical period and review unusual operating conditions.
